Girard '21 Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2021 Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is an exceptional expression of the appellation’s unique terroir. The deep ruby color offers enticing aromas of cassis, dark chocolate and hints of dried herbs and cedar. The palate showcases a powerful yet elegant structure, velvety tannins, and well-integrated oak. Flavors of ripe black fruits, mocha and baking spices unfold gracefully while the vibrant acidity provides freshness and balance. A Cabernet of great depth and complexity with a long, lingering finish.

The growing season started with a wet January and February, then nearly no rain for the remainder of the season. The dry weather resulted in early spring budbreak, followed by early flowering, bloom, and fruit set. Calm spring and summer temperatures with no worrisome heat spikes allowed for even veraison in July. Due in part to continued drought conditions the yields were naturally lower resulting in optimal ripening of intensely concentrated and very flavorful berries.
