Girard '22 North Coast Viognier

Our 2022 North Coast Viognier is an elegant aromatic white wine featuring hints of honeysuckle, apricot, and just ripe pineapple. Rich and opulent on the palate, with flavors of peach, tangerine citrus, and a touch of spice. Well-balanced, the lively acidity leads to a long, mineral laced finish.

The 2022 vintage started off drier than usual, followed by unprecedented weather including hail in May, and heat spikes in September, followed by rain. Despite these challenges, we persevered. Harvest started in early August, and the flurry of activity didn’t let up until all the grapes were off the vine. It was an exciting vintage, challenging our  winemaking team with another year of lower than desired yields. Our winemaking team transformed the meager yields into wines with refreshing acidity, as well as striking balance of flavor and mouthfeel. Wines from this vintage are marked by freshness, opulence, intensity, and elegance, all at the same time.

Sourced primarily from a vineyard in Suisun Valley, bordering the southeast edge of the Napa Valley. Known for its warm climate and diverse terroir, the proximity to the San Pablo Bay brings cooling breezes
and fog, creating ideal conditions for growing Viognier with rich flavors, balanced acidity, and excellent structure.
