Girard '19 Napa Valley Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Deeply colored in the glass, and bursting with opulent aromas of black raspberry, red plum and dusty earth, this wine reveals sultry flavors of dark fruit, dried herbs, and pepper spice on the palate. The vibrant acidity and refined tannins afford the wine an elegant finish and the ability to age some 10 plus years in the cellar.

The year started out with ample rainfall which kept the soils moist and cool into spring. Summer was marked by warm, even daytime temperatures with few extreme heat spikes. The opportune weather conditions continued into late summer and fall. The harvest was of average volume, if not slightly below average and the fruit quality was exceptional, allowing us to craft wines with fresh brightness, texture, structure, and finesse.

Our Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a single vineyard situated in the northeastern section of Oakville, just off the Silverado Trail. Temperatures here are a few degrees warmer than on the Valley floor, and combined with the multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, planted to a variety of rootstocks, the vines maximize the abundant
afternoon sunshine to ripen the grapes into their most complex, layered and richly balanced expression.
